Kansas Teacher of the Year Visited USD320
March 29, 2019
On March 20th, Wamego was visited by 6 area Kansas Teacher of the Year teachers. We were began the day at the district PLC building with breakfast and a welcome from school and district administrators, school board members, and chamber board members. From there Mrs. Flinn and West elementary showcased the literacy program, their social and emotional learning program, and student leadership. Next we had the opportunity to tour the community, experience the Oz Museum, and dine at Toto's Tacoz. The second half of our day brought us to the high school. While at the HS, the teachers learned about various programs through student and staff presentations. These included Link Crew, Peer Chamber, Kansas Honor Flight-Wamego High School, Leading Together, Young Entrepreneurship, Senior Interview day, and our Tech Center. To end the day, the KTOY teachers were entertained by very talented band members in a saxophone quartet and a brass quintet. Additionally, Blaine Hupe and Lauren Shaffer performed their Forensics duet performance, which they will also be performing at Nationals this summer.
