The Board of Education meets on the second Monday of each month. Meetings are held in the Media Center at Wamego Middle School and begin at 7:30 unless otherwise noted on the calendar. The general public is invited to attend all meetings, except executive sessions.
Agendas for the BOE meetings are made available in advance of the meeting dates. Copies are posted at each school building, sent to the news media, and are available at this web site. BOE Agenda Patrons who would like to be put on a mailing list for board agendas should contact the school district office.
Any patron wishing to place an item on the board meeting agenda shall submit a written request form to the superintendent at least seven days prior to the meeting at which s/he wishes to speak. Forms are available by clicking here, or through the board clerk. The superintendent shall determine whether a request can be solved by the staff without appearance of the patron before the board. If not, the superintendent shall place the patron’s request on the agenda of the next regular board meeting. Permission to appear before the board at a regular meeting is subject to specific guidelines. Guidelines are also available through the board clerk.
Patrons may address the board regarding any item on the agenda during the Visitor’s Forum. The superintendent should be notified of intent to speak during a Visitor’s Forum by 4:00 pm on the day of a board meeting. Permission to speak shall be at the discretion of the board president. A time limit may be imposed, and groups with the same special interest may be asked to appoint a spokesperson.
